Peter Lee

Music Maker

                  The Begining

Peter –Lee born in Croydon 25th November 1962, is a versatile guitarist. Primarily he is self-taught. He began playing the guitar at the age of 11 in his gospel church; this is where his musical foundation was forged. After leaving home at an early age (16), His dream was to be a professional musician. It wasn’t long before he found himself working with Brixton’s local reggae band the “Cool Notes”(1981). This band had success in the reggae charts. Peter Lee later went on to record 2 albums and 5 singles with them, and achieve 2 top 20 national chart hits.

               Session musician

 After the “Cool notes” broke up (1986). Peter Lee was to become a session musician, this type of musician would work for any artist that would hire them. This is where he learnt versatility playing for blues, R&B and reggae bands. Performing in live TV shows such as “club mix” on channel 4 (presentend by Smilly Culture), and the house band of the “291” talent show at Hackney Empire.

He went on to record a live album with a blues band (Boogie brothers), and a live album with the number 1 reggae band “ Aswad”. Peter Lee has worked with many bands touring all over the world. He has worked with all the lovers rock reggae artists, such as; Janet Kay, Carol Thompson, Lewisa marks, Dawn Pen, to name a few.  He has worked with many Jamaican reggae artist such as “Frankie Paul”, “Everton Blender”, “Sugar Minot”, “Gregory Isaacs”,“ Michael Rose” (Black Uhuru), and has toured with the reggae legend “Lee scratch Perry”.

   

               Theatre Muscian

  Peter Lee first ventured into playing music for theatre in the year 2000 at the Yorkshire playhouse in Leeds. Although he would consider himself a street musician he viewed theatre work as an exciting new challenge. Working together with his musical colleagues “Perry Melius” and “Wayne Noons” (drums and bass for the "Billy Ocean band")  brought a new street freshness to theatre music. He has performed music for many pantomimes at the theatre Royal Stratford East.

 

                   West End

 

  Peter Lee then went on to play for the ska west end show nominated for best musical 2005 “The big life”, and played in the reggae westend show "The Harder They Come".

 

                Music Teacher

  Peter Lee is not only a performer he also teaches music; He tutored “Performing musicianship”, “music composition” and “Guitar Skills” at Kensington and Chelsea collage. Peter Lee has proven himself to be a versatile and professional musician, able to handle any musical venture.
